When creating a skin care regime, it is OK to start simple.
Start with a daily cleanser and moisturizer and the more comfortable your skin becomes to that regimen, the more products you can add to compliment your daily routine.
Choose a cleanser specific to your skins needs. If your skin is dry, choose a hydrating cleanser. If it is oily or acne prone, cleansers that contain alpha hydroxy acids (glycolic) or beta hydroxy acids (salicylic) will work more effectively. Sensitive and/or Rosacea – always use a mild cleanser so that flushing and broken capillaries are not aggravated.
Regardless of whether you have dry or oily skin, your skin also needs to be hydrated, so always use a moisturizer.
Moisturizers which contain hyaluronic acid (HA) work well because hyaluronic acid holds 1000 times its weight in water and is 50 times stronger than Vitamin E. Moisturizers containing HA also get absorbed into the skin, while many without the ingredient HA just sit on top and blanket the skin.
Other products which aid in the health of skin are treatment creams that contain acids such as glycolic, lactic, malic and salicylic – which will help to exfoliate the epidermis and allow for better penetration of other products.
Toners are also good because they help to normalize PH in the skin and remove residual cleanser and makeup, while temporarily tightening pores.
Lightening agents such as Hydroquinone (HQ) work to bleach or lighten pigmentation and even skin tone. Plant based lighteners such as Kojic Acid and Arbutase are also another option to even skin tone, however the process may take a bit longer than Hydroquinone.
All of the above will help to restore your skin to its optimum, allowing for better hydration, clarity, and radiance.
